At the 41st Grammy Awards, Lauryn Hill set a new record for female artists, winning five Grammy Awards out of the ten she was nominated for her 1998 album, "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill."
It was the first time a rap artist had ever won in the major Grammy categories, including the Album of the Year award, making "Miseducation" the first hip-hop album to ever receive that award.
Hill, formerly from The Fugees, also won best new artist, female R&B vocal performance for the track "Doo Wop," R&B song for the same record and R&B album.
In 2002, Alicia Keys tied with Lauryn Hill when she won five Grammys for her chart-topping debut album "Songs in a Minor."
